Min Giriraj hails growth initiatives in Union and state budgets | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: Union minister for textiles Giriraj Singh on Tuesday highlighted the remarkable growth in India’s Budget outlay from Rs 16 lakh crore in 2014 to Rs 51 lakh crore in 2025-26 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, hailing both the central and state budgets.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP office here, Singh termed the 2025-26 Union Budget as a “report card of 10 years of good governance”. “While Congress only gave the slogan of removing poverty, the BJP govt successfully lifted 30 crore people above the poverty line,” said Singh.
The minister said that six Vande Bharat trains and one Amrit Bharat train were provided for Odisha.
“The BJP govt also gave importance to the development of the petroleum and tourism sectors in Odisha. A provision of Rs 1,000 crore was made for the Hirakud dam and Satkosia tiger project in the Mahanadi,” he said.
He added that plans were made to implement schemes like Atal Innovation Centres and PM Shri in all schools and expand IITs.
“In the next five years, 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs will be established in govt schools across the country, while the budget has made provisions to open approximately 863 Atal Tinkering Labs in Odisha,” he said.
Singh said that the central govt is planning how Odisha can become the largest producer of tussar silk in the country. “While India will become the largest silk-producing nation in the world, plans have been made for Odisha to become a hub for various silks,” he noted.
Revenue minister Suresh Pujari said that like the central govt, the state govt also presented an inclusive and all-encompassing budget considering the needs of people.
“This budget gives utmost importance to the poor, youth, farmers and women. In 2036, the centenary of Odisha’s formation will be celebrated. The state budget has been prepared with a special focus on making Odisha developed and self-reliant in the next 12 years,” he said.
Pujari said a provision of Rs 4,000 crore was made for natural disaster management.
“Provisions have been made in the budget to bring Odisha’s language and culture to the world stage. Arrangements have been made to create employment opportunities in the tourism sector. Plans have been made in the state budget for the development of all sections, all classes and all sectors,” said Pujari.
State BJP president Manmohan Samal said that the budget is revolutionary. “It will play a key role in the formation of a developed Odisha. In this budget, a provision of Rs 1.70 lakh crore was made for planned expenditure, which is 59% of the total budget,” he said.
