Metro 7 and 2A get safety nod for 80 kmph | Mumbai News – Times of India
Mumbai: Metro Lines 7 (Red Line) and 2A (Yellow Line) received safety clearance from the chief commissioner of rail safety, enabling operations at full speeds of 80 kmph. At present, the metro used to run at speeds of 50 kmph to 60 kmph. There will be no savings in time or addition of new services.
CM Devendra Fadnavis called it a step towards world-class urban mobility, while deputy CM Eknath Shinde lauded MMRDA’s efforts in easing congestion. MMRDA chief Dr Sanjay Mukherjee emphasised the agency’s commitment to safety, advancing the vision of ‘Mumbai in Minutes’. TNN
