Met: No rainfall likely in state for next 5 days

Patna: No rainfall will likely be witnessed in the state for next four to five days, as the south-west monsoon continued to remain weak, said the Patna Meteorological office. The patchy rainfall has pushed the deficit in the state to 14%. Against the normal average of 349.1 mm, the state witnessed 299.6 mm showers till date.
Patna’s rainfall shortage during the same period was 36%.Against the normal of 307.4 mm, the capital received only 197.7 mm rain till Tuesday, according to Patna Meteorological office.
However, yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorm and lightning in 17 districts in the north-western, north-eastern and south-eastern parts of the state on Wednesday.
Of the 38 districts of the state, 30 have registered shortfall in precipitation till date, as per weather office data. The minimum rainfall deficit of 4% was recorded in Gopalganj whereas the highest shortfall of 44% was registered in Samastipur.
The eight districts which received above normal rainfall were Kishanganj (54%), Siwan (23%), Arwal (20%), West Champaran (19%), Nawada (9%), Sheohar (8%), Araria (7%) and East Champaran (1%) till Tuesday.
No significant change in day’s temperature is predicted for the next 48 hours.
The maximum temperature of 37°C was recorded at Pupari in Sitamarhi while the minimum of 25.8°C was logged at Dehri in Rohtas district. Patna’s maximum and minimum temperatures stood at 34.6°C and 29.6 °C respectively on Tuesday.
