Memon women showcase entrepreneurial talent at Eid Milan event in Mumbai | Mumbai News – The Times of India

MUMBAI: The World Memon Organisation recently held in the city an Eid Milan programme aimed at empowering women and promoting entrepreneurship among women.
Around a crowd of 5000 people, mostly women, turned up at the iconic Islam Gymkhana ground to witness the carnival where women showcased their craftsmanship and entrepreneurial skills.
“This was a unique event where Memon women showcased their skills in entrepreneurship, handicrafts, cooking and sales. This event proved that there is a lot of talent among our women and this talent needs to be nurtured and promoted,” said Haji Mudassar Patel of WMO.
Prominent among those who attended the mela included, besides Haji Mudassar Patek, Haseen Aghadi Razia Chashmawala, Shakeel Batliwala and Shakir Batliwala. Sharief Memon and Shabbir Patka too attended the event. So did Congress MLA Amin Patel.
The overwhelming response to the the function proved an eagerness among Memon women to create a culture of entrepreneurship among themselves. The sizeable crowd only showed that the potential needs to be tapped.
Basically a business community, the Memon men are already known for their entrepreneurship and trade skills. With the success of this event, it is proven beyond doubt that even women can reach the stars and can create a space for themselves.
This event also showed that, given encouragement and proper guidance and ecosystem, women can help families strength financially. Financial freedom provides women confidence and take decisions aimed at creating strong family bonds.
