Meenakshi Natarajan, Revanth discuss cabinet expansion at dinner

Hyderabad: AICC in charge of Telangana, Meenakshi Natarajan, on Wednesday met chief minister A Revanth Reddy at his residence and reportedly held discussion about the cabinet expansion. This included the demand of Madiga MLAs seeking at least two cabinet berths, the TPCC’s new team comprising four working presidents and 35 vice-presidents, and differences between Congress and BRS turncoat camps, among other issues brought to her notice by the party leaders. All the available ministers in the city attended the meeeting at CM’s residence in Jubilee Hills. On its part, the CMO claimed that it was a dinner hosted by CM Revanth for Meenakshi and the ministers. However, sources said the meeting assumed significance as deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, who was in Madhira constituency in the morning, was called to the city by Revanth to attend an important meeting. Bhatti returned in the afternoon and participated in the dinner. The TPCC top guns, including CM Revanth, his cabinet colleagues Bhatti and N Uttam Kumar Reddy, and TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, are scheduled to meet AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi on May 30 to discuss cabinet expansion and finalise the new TPCC team. Meenakshi on Wednesday held meetings with party MLAs, MPs, ministers, contested candidates, and important leaders from Adilabad, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Zahirabad, Medak, and Malkajgiri parliamentary constituencies at Hyderguda MLA quarters. She was flooded with representations for berths in cabinet expansion, working presidents, vice-presidents, and nominated posts. A few others lodged complaints about the non-cooperation of BRS turncoat MLAs and the party’s own ministers and MLAs. Some of the MLAs told her that contractors in the districts were approaching them, but the govt was not clearing pending bills. A few MLAs also said there was an urgent need to clear pending bills of sarpanches and gram panchayats before the rural local body elections. Earlier during the day, MLAs made a beeline to Meenakshi Natarajan’s meeting at MLA quarters with MLAs Permsagar Rao (Velama, Mancherial constituency), Raj Thakur (BC, Ramagundam), Madiga community MLAs Lakshmikantha Rao (Jukkal), govt whip Adluri Laxman (Dharmapuri), Mandula Samuel (Thungathurthi), and Kavvampalli Satyanarayana (Manakondur), all seeking cabinet berths. Thakur also sought the post of TPCC working president, if not a place in the cabinet. She assured them that she would take all their representations to Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and KC Venugopal and told them the need to take more effectively the Congress govt’s welfare schemes and to attend to the problems of the voters in their respective constituencies. Madiga MLAs, after meeting Meenakshi, told reporters that the community outrightly supported the Congress and brought it to power in the 2023 assembly elections. They said that the community deserved cabinet berths and that health minister D Rajanarasimha, who is from the Madiga community, was a party senior and above caste equations due to his contribution to the party over the years. They demanded that at least two Madigas be given cabinet berths. Some of them left for Delhi to meet Kharge on Thursday, a day before the crucial meeting of the AICC president with Telangana Congress top guns.
