NEW DELHI: Amid the ongoing NEET-UG row, education minister Dharmendra Pradhan came face to face with a bunch of students who had gathered in front of his residence on Thursday. All of them were NEET-UG aspirants worried over the fate of the exam and the counselling. During the interaction, Pradhan assured them that their interests would be taken care of.
On reaching his residence in the afternoon, Pradhan saw a group of students waiting for an appointment with him.According to a source, he asked his office to allow the students in and spent around 45 minutes hearing their concerns.
“These students are not part of any students’ organisation and were not there to protest but were seeking an audience to share their experience. The minister heard them and apprised them of the govt’s efforts and the status of the case in the Supreme Court,” the source said.
The minister, it is learnt, advised the students not to get demotivated and assured them that their career was of paramount importance and the govt would do everything to safeguard their interests.
The source said the students raised concerns over the uncertainty, delay in counselling and possible delay in the academic calendar.
Another student said the majority of them did not want a retest and demanded that counselling be held immediately. He said the minister informed them that the apex court decision was awaited, while assuring that steps would be taken to ensure that the academic session did not get delayed.
