Massive Gambling Raid in Nuapada: 19 Arrested and Rs 29.5 Lakh Seized | Bhubaneswar News

Balangir: Police raided a gambling den in Nuapada district‘s Thelkobeda on Saturday night and arrested 19 people allegedly involved in illegal gambling.
Authorities seized over Rs 29.5 lakh in cash, along with 27 cars, five motorcycles, 70 mobile phones, playing cards, and other incriminating materials, officials confirmed. Out of those arrested, five individuals have been booked under non-bailable offences, while 14 others face bailable charges.Another 62 were released after signing bonds.
“The operation was a joint effort by Koraput and Nuapada police. It was executed based on credible intelligence about the gambling den. Before the raid, the team conducted a detailed investigation to confirm the location,” said G K Raghavendra, SP, Nuapada. According to the police, the team meticulously cordoned off the house, sealing all entry and exit points to prevent the suspects from fleeing.
A surprise raid was then conducted, leaving no opportunity for escape. After the raid, DGP Y B Khurania suspended Gurudev Karmi, IIC of Jonk police station, in Nuapada district for dereliction of duty on Sunday.
