Massive fire at ‘chanachur’ factory

Bhubaneswar: A massive fire broke out at a ‘chanachur’ factory in Saheed Nagar early Saturday morning, causing significant damage to the facility. Fire services officials confirmed that the blaze was contained after a two-hour operation. There was no casualty.
The incident took place around 5:30 am when oil in a hot pan caught fire and rapidly spread. Local authorities were immediately alerted, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene. Assistant fire officer, Manoranjan Rout, said while the fire teams managed to prevent the flames from spreading to neighbouring establishments, the factory’s inventory of mixture ingredients was completely destroyed. “Our primary concern was to contain the fire before it could affect other shops,” said Rout.
The quick response from the fire services helped avert what could have been a major disaster in the commercial area, sources said. The exact extent of the damage and financial losses are yet to be assessed. Local authorities are conducting an investigation to determine if proper fire safety measures were in place at the facility. The incident has raised concerns about fire safety protocols in commercial establishments across the city. Business owners in the area have been advised to review their fire safety arrangements.
