Manure: BMC writes to govt depts over unsold manure | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: A huge stock of 200 metric tonnes of unsold organic manure or ‘Mo Khata’ is lying unsold with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). The civic body makes the manure from wet municipal solid waste.
The BMC has written to different govt departments to sell the manure. “We have written to all govt departments to procure the manure from us for use in their gardens, lawns and beautification of office premises.The agriculture and horticulture departments can procure in bulk. We also request private and corporate offices to buy our manure,” said Manaranjan Sahu, deputy commissioner, sanitation.
In 2022, BMC sold 100kg of manure to several star hotels.
“We have 200 tonne of manure stored in the central godown. They will be sent to kiosks in the city for direct sale as well,” Sahu added.
