Bhubaneswar: Senior IAS officer Manoj Ahuja took over as chief secretary, following the retirement of Pradeep Kumar Jena on Sunday. Ahuja offered prayers at Puri Jagannath Temple after his appointment and is scheduled to hold a meeting with the heads of different departments on Tuesday. “I sought Lord Jagannath’s blessings after taking charge. I will take stock of the governance and prepare the road map,” Ahuja said.
Sources said Ahuja will be instrumental in overseeing the implementation of projects and schemes planned and initiated by the new govt.
They said Ahuja’s immediate priority is to ensure the smooth execution of Rath Yatra in Puri. “I will review preparations for the Rath Yatra and convene a meeting with stakeholders,” said Ahuja.
“I relinquished charge of chief secretary today at 3.30pm. I welcome Manoj Ahuja, one of my good friends from the 1990 batch (from my Kalahandi days). He was my successor sub-collector Dharamgarh & I’m happy to have been succeeded by him today to hold the post of chief secretary. Wish him all the best,” Jena posted on X.TNN
