Manjhi hopeful of getting ‘respectable’ number of seats

Patna: Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Saturday said the seat-sharing deal among the NDA partners could be finalised by Aug and claimed each partner would be getting a “respectable number of seats”.Manjhi’s statement assumes significance amid reports that the JD(U) and BJP, two key allies of the NDA, have nearly reached the seat-sharing arrangement under which a maximum of 40 assembly seats could be spared for three smaller allies headed by Chirag Paswan, Manjhi, and Upendra Kushwaha.Talking to reporters in Patna, Manjhi denied any hitch in the NDA over the seat-sharing issue, stating that the issue could be settled by Aug. “The seat-sharing deal could be sealed by Aug and each ally will get a respectable number of seats,” he said, adding they were trying hard to win elections to strengthen PM Narendra Modi.“Our only concern is to ensure the victory of the double-engine govt in the state,” Manjhi said.HAM(S) has been demanding at least 20 seats while Chirag’s LJP(RV) wants at least one representation in each of the 38 districts. On the other hand, Kushwaha’s RLM wants at least 15 seats to contest. But informed sources said LJP(RV) could be spared 25-28 seats, HAM(S) 6-7 seats, and RLM 4-5 seats.
