Mandiri drain road to be completed by June 2025 | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Urban development and housing minister Nitin Nabin on Friday said that the target to complete the construction work at Mandiri drain was June 15, 2025, and that it will be monitored every week to prevent delays.
“Any shortcomings will be addressed. The officials have been directed to work in double shifts,” Nabin said, after visiting the construction sites of not just the Mandiri drain, but also Saidpur and Badshahi drains on the day.He directed the department officials to accelerate the works to ensure free flow of water during monsoon in order to avoid waterlogging.
Observing the slow pace of construction work and the troubles faced by the people, Nabin stated that the department’s first priority is the construction of the Mandiri drain. “The effort is to construct a road by covering the drains, which will be connected to JP Ganga Path. Once the work is completed, it will be convenient for commuters to travel from Bailey Road to Ashok Raj Path and JP Ganga Path,” he said.
Patna Smart City Limited spokesperson Priya Saurabh said that the two-lane road over Mandiri drain will be 1,250m long, with service lanes on both sides, each with a width of 4.5m. As per the detailed project report, the road will be built on double-barrel reinforced cement concrete boxes, which can be opened from top for cleaning purpose.
The minister, meanwhile, added cleaning work is going on in the Mandiri, Badshahi, Bakarganj and Saidpur drains to address waterlogging in Patna during the rainy season. “The work on the Mandiri drain will be halted for nearly three months during the monsoon. Before the rainy season, the cleaning work of the Mandiri drain, along with Bakarganj, Saidpur and Badshahi drains, is also being reviewed regularly.”
