Rourkela: A 44-year-old farmer was trampled to death by a tusker in Sundargarh district Friday night when he had gone out after dinner. On Saturday morning, locals found Rajesh Munda lying dead inside a teak plantation, about one km from his home, in Tukuda village under Gurundia police limits.
Locals informed Munda’s family and Sole forest range official. Forest officials have sent the body of the farmer for postmortem. Forest officials found foot marks of elephants and a tusker’s tusk mark on a tree near Rajesh’s body.”Munda’s legal heir will get a compensation of Rs 6 lakh after completion of formalities,” said Kailash Chandra Kisan, range officer, Sole forest range.
