Man tied to tree, flogged to death over car sale dispute in Kamareddy

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old private employee was allegedly tied to a tree and flogged by a group of people resulting in his death in Chintamanipally in Kamareddy district on Wednesday night. A financial dispute over selling a car led to the incident. Police rushed additional forces to the village to prevent any escalation. They reportedly took the accused into custody.
The victim, Golla Ramesh, and the accused belong to the same community, but were from neighbouring villages.
Kamareddy SP M Rajesh Chandra told TOI a murder case has been registered against the suspects and special teams formed to nab them.
Police said, Ramesh worked for a private veterinary hospital and he recently sold his car to one of the accused, Pochaiah, for Rs 4.8 lakh. He sought Rs 2 lakh in cash and the remaining amount towards repayment of the loan on the vehicle. Due to this, there was a dispute between both parties for the past few days.
On Wednesday, Ramesh went to Pochaiah’s house for the amount. Enraged by this, Pochaiah, his nephew Harish, and their workers pounced on him. Calling him names, they tied him to a tree at their house and flogged him repeatedly leaving him severely injured, a police officer said.
Ramesh’s family rushed him to Kamareddy Govt Hospital, but he succumbed on the way, the officer added. Bhiknoor Circle and Domakonda police station staff rushed to the village. As the deceased’s family protested, demanding the arrest of the accused, police pacified them and shifted Ramesh’s body for a post-mortem examination. A police picket was also set up in both villages as a preventive measure.
