Man strangles wife to death before hanging himself | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: A 37-year-old factory worker strangled his wife to death before hanging himself from the ceiling fan of their Tigalarapalya residence in Byadarahalli, western part of the city, Wednesday.
The victim is S Mamata, 33, and her husband is Suresh. Both were factory workers. Additionally, Suresh drove an auto during spare time and was addicted to alcohol, family sources said. Both hailed from Gubbi in Tumakuru district, married nine years ago and have a six-year-old son.
According to Mamata’s mother Rukmini, Suresh was mentally and physically harassing her daughter. “Ten days ago, Mamata came home saying she couldn’t live with Suresh any more because of increasing harassment,” Rukmini told police.
Cops said the incident came to light when the couple’s son rushed to a neighbour’s house, saying his father was beating up his mother badly and choking her neck. “The boy was watching TV in the hall when the fight began. He ran out when he saw Suresh strangling Mamata. By then, Suresh, after killing Mamata, hanged himself. Both were dead by the time neighbours rushed in,” a police officer said.
