Berhampur: A family dispute turned fatal in Kandhamal district‘s Singamilla village when a 55-year-old man allegedly stabbed his son to death early Saturday morning. The victim, Jitendra Mallick (23), was reportedly drunk and had confronted his father, Praneswar Mallick, over a delay in opening the house door. The incident took place under Baliguda police limits. Police have detained Praneswar.
Police said the deceased knocked on the door early in the morning. After receiving no response, he reportedly hit the door breaking it. Angry, his father grabbed a knife and stabbed him, resulting in his death on the spot, police said. IIC, Baliguda police station, Sushant Sahu said the knife used to kill the man was seized and bosy sent for autopsy.
Police said the deceased, an unemployed man, was a habitual drunkard and used to create a nuisance at home after being drunk. His father warned him several times.
