Man knifes auto driver after water splashes on him from wheel in Thane
Police investigate after Shahbaz alias Nannu Khan allegedly assaults an autorickshaw driver on Ghodbunder Road in Thane, Maharashtra

NEW DELHI: In Thane city, Maharashtra, police have filed a case against an individual named Shahbaz, also known as Nannu Khan, for allegedly assaulting an autorickshaw driver.
The incident occurred on Friday around 5:30 pm on Ghodbunder Road, when water splashed on Khan from the autorickshaw’s wheel, triggering an argument between him and the driver, according to the official’s statement based on the FIR.
The official further explained that the altercation began when one of the autorickshaw’s wheels hit a pothole, causing water to splash onto Khan, which infuriated him.
An hour later, when the auto driver was returning along the same route, Khan reportedly attacked him with a knife and physically assaulted him, as stated by the official.
Following the auto driver’s complaint, the police have registered a case against Khan under various sections of the recently implemented Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which has replaced the Indian Penal Code. The charges include wrongful restraint (127-1), causing grievous hurt (118-1), causing hurt (115-2), intentional insult (352), and criminal terrorism (351-2).
The official added that the injured autorickshaw driver is currently receiving local medical treatment.
