Kendrapada: A 40-year-old man surrendered to police in Jajpur district on Saturday night after allegedly killing his wife over suspicion of an extramarital affair.The accused, Kishor Kumar Sahoo of Paripada village under Mangalpur police station limits, walked into the police station around 10.30pm and confessed to murdering his 35-year-old wife, Rajashree Sahoo. “We rushed to the house of the accused, seized the body of his wife, Rajashree Sahoo, and sent it to the district headquarters hospital in Jajpur. The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy report is received,” said Jagadish Kar, IIC of Mangalpur police station.The couple, married since 2015, had a history of frequent domestic disputes. On Saturday evening, Kishor allegedly attacked Rajashree with a brick, fatally hitting her on the head in a fit of rage.At the time of the incident, their two sons, aged 8 and 7, were away attending a marriage feast in the village. Police recovered the brick used in the assault from the crime scene. “Further investigation is underway, including recording the statements of the accused and others,” said Kar.Kishor has been arrested under Section 101 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He was produced in court on Sunday, where his bail plea was rejected and he was remanded to judicial custody.
