Man kills nephew, injures brother | Patna News – Times of India
Patna: A man shot dead his nephew and injured his brother over a dispute of partition of ancestral property in Bhagalpur Thursday night, police said.
Police, however, added that protest over the accused’s love affair with his minor niece was also the reason behind the killing.
Police said the deceased has been identified as Ayush Kumar (12), son of Robin Mandal (40).He was a native of Gangania Fatehpur village under Sultanganj police station of the district. The accused, Vikash Mandal (22), is the cousin brother of the injured, Robin. The families of Robin and Vikash were having a dispute over partition of ancestral property.
After the shooting, the family members admitted the injured Robin and his son Ayush to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital, Bhagalpur. There the doctors declared the child dead and referred Robin to PMCH due to his critical condition.
The complaint filed by Robin said that his cousin-sister Babita Devi and her daughter had arrived at his home about a week back. His cousin Vikash threw dirt on his sister’s 16-year-old daughter, while she was taking bath, said the complaint. “When we protested, Vikash threatened to kill us. Vikash entered the house at night and opened fire on me and my son,” said Robin.
Sultanganj SHO, Priyaranjan, said investigations revealed that there was an old dispute between the two families over their ancestral property.
“There was also a love affair between Vikash and the minor girl. The victim’s family was against their relationship, as they are relatives and the girl is a minor,” the SHO added.
