Man killed for opposing sister’s love affair in W Champaran | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: The body of a 19-year-old youth with his throat slit and multiple stab injuries was recovered near a temple at Harivatika Chowk under Mufassil police station area of West Champaran district on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Saurabh Kumar, son of Vijay Kumar of Diulia village under Ramnagar police station area of Bagaha. However, Bettiah police arrested the main accused, Anuj Kumar, within four hours of the incident. Anuj is brother of Shibu Singh who is husband of elder sister of the deceased.
According to the police, the motive behind the murder was a love affair between Anuj and Saurabh’s younger sister. “Anuj wanted to marry her, which Saurabh opposed. So, Anuj made a plan and executed it as part of a conspiracy. Saurabh was the only son of Vijay Kumar and worked as a clerk in a post office in Meghalaya. He got the job a year ago,” said Bettiah SP, Shaurya Suman.
On Friday night, Anuj, who was travelling with Saurabh on a bike, told police that seven criminals on three bikes chased them. Anuj managed to escape by getting off the bike, while Saurabh ran towards Hariwatika Chowk to save himself but fell off the bike. The criminals then surrounded him near a Shiva temple, and attacked him with a knife, and then slit his throat, killing him on the spot.
Saurabh’s elder sister Khushbu was married four years ago to Shibu, son of Upendra Rao, a resident of Laukariya village under Bairia police station area. Her in-laws live in a rented room near Bettiah Sagar Pokhara. Khushbu is expecting a baby and is admitted to a private hospital in Bettiah for delivery.
“On Friday night, Saurabh left with Anuj to deliver food to his sister at the hospital, but unfortunately his body was found the next morning. His bike was also found lying near the spot. There were five stabbing wounds on the deceased’s body. The case was solved with the forensic and technical investigation. Anuj was the main conspirator and accused in the crime. Raids are being carried out to nab other attackers,” the SP added.
