Man injured in Ghatkopar hoarding collapse dies, toll rises to 17 | Mumbai News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The death toll in the Ghatkopar hoarding crash incident, which took place on May 13, has risen to 17.
The deceased was identified as Raju Sonawane, 52, who succumbed to his injuries at the civic-run KEM Hospital on May 19 at 11 pm.
The event, triggered by a sudden dust storm and rain accompanied by winds of up to 60 kmph, claimed the lives of 16 people and left nearly 70 others wounded when a massive 250-tonne illegal advertisement hoarding collapsed onto a petrol pump.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) attributed the extreme weather conditions to pre-monsoon activity, which wreaked havoc across the city on that fateful Monday evening.
