Man held for stealing chain, phones from hotel room | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: A 28-year-old burglar who stole a mangalya chain and two mobile phones from a hotel room in Bellahalli, north Bengaluru, was arrested.
Police recovered the chain and phones and also two stolen two-wheelers from Abdul Rehman Khan, a resident of RK Hegde Nagar. Khan is a habitual offender who was arrested earlier by Sampigehalli and Amruthahalli police.
Homemaker Lalitha R, 59, a resident of MSR Nagar, told police she and five of her relatives were staying in the hotel on the night of March 15 as her niece’s marriage was being held at a nearby hall.
She said the miscreant broke open the room door lock between 2am and 4.15am and fled with the chain and two phones.
Police analysed CCTV footage of the hotel and got clues about Khan. He was wearing a cap and covering his face as he walked into the hotel through the door, which was kept open. He used an iron rod to break the lock of room no. 205, in which Lalitha was sleeping, and stole the chain and phones. He left within two minutes.
