Man held for sexually assaulting woman at railway station | Chennai News – The Times of India

Chennai: A 34-year-old man was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a woman at Thiruvottiyur railway station on March 28. The survivor, a private company employee, was commuting on a local EMU train from Beach to Thiruvottiyur when the incident occurred.
According to police, the woman exited the train around 7.50pm and was walking toward the bridge when Dillibabu who worked as cashier at a pharmaceutical company on Perambur Barracks Road approached her and sexually assaulted her before fleeing. The survivor lodged a complaint the following day at the Korukkupet railway police station.
Following the complaint, a case was registered under Section 126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Two special teams were formed to trace the accused. The suspect had visited a temple in Thiruvottiyur and was going to board an EMU to reach his house in Minjur, when he assaulted the passenger, said police.
The team nabbed him on Friday at 6pm when he was waiting at platform number 5 of Basin Bridge Railway Station. He was taken to the Korukkupet railway police station and is set to be remanded to judicial custody.
