Rourkela: A 35-year-old fast food stall owner was arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly raping and impregnating his friend’s 15-year-old daughter, police said. The minor delivered a baby girl at Rourkela Government Hospital last month.
According to police, the accused assaulted her multiple times last year when she was alone at home, threatening her into silence. Her pregnancy was discovered in Feb after she was hospitalised with abdominal pain.
On Tuesday, social workers confronted the accused at his stall and vandalised it. Police intervened, rescuing him before transferring him to the police station. An FIR was filed against the accused on Wednesday. “Further investigation into the matter is underway,” said inspector in-charge B B Jaipuria.
