Man held for murdering partner, burning body to destroy evidence

Hyderabad: Chandrayangutta police on Tuesday arrested a 43-year-old construction worker, Julfukar Ali, for the alleged murderof his partner, a woman from West Bengal, whose body he later burned to destroy evidence.According to police, the incident took place on May 8, following a heated argument between the two.The victim, also aged 43 and a daily wage labourer, had been in a relationship with Ali for the past few months. He had arranged a rented accommodation for her in Chandrayangutta, where she lived alone.Police said the woman had been pressuring Ali to marry her, despite knowing that he was already married and has children. Tensions escalated as Ali also began to suspect her of having an affair with other men. Due to these growing suspicions and mounting pressure, he repeatedly rejected her marriage proposals. On May 7, while Ali was at work, the woman called him, asking him to come home. When he refused, she allegedly abused him and threatened to end the relationship.Enraged by the confrontation and driven by jealousy and suspicion, Ali reportedly hatched a plan to kill her. The next day, on May 8, he went to her room, allegedly murdered her, and burned the body in an attempt to erase evidence before fleeing the scene.Technical clues and leads led the police to identify Ali as the prime suspect. He was arrested on Tuesday near Keshavagiri, close to Chandrayangutta. He was remanded injudicial custody, said R Gopi, station house officer, Chandrayangutta.
