Kendrapada: A 26-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly killing his father following a violent altercation in Jajpur district’s Laxminagar village.
According to the police, the accused, Jagan Sahoo, allegedly struck his father, Karunakar Sahoo (57), on the head with a wooden plank during a heated argument over family matters on Sunday night. Karunakar was rushed to the Community Health Centre in Jajpur Road, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
“We have recovered a blood-stained wooden plank from the crime scene. We have registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for patricide,” said Upendra Pradhan, IIC of Jajpur Road police station.
The accused was produced before the local court on Monday. His bail application was rejected, and he was remanded to judicial custody. Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal confrontation.
