Man held for kidnap & rape; girl rescued after 1 month | Bhubaneswar News
Kendrapada: Police rescued a 16-year-old girl from Hyderabad on Monday, a month after she was allegedly kidnapped and raped by a neighbour in Kendrapada district.
“The accused, a 22-year-old man, was arrested based on call detail records and technical surveillance,” investigating officer Naresh Sahoo said.
Police said the Class X student was abducted on March 3 while she was heading to the local market. The girl’s mother filed an FIR the next day, prompting police to launch an investigation.
“We tracked the accused to Hyderabad and rescued the minor,” said Sahoo.
The accused has been booked under sections 140 (kidnapping) and 70(2) (rape of a woman under 18 years) of the BNS, along with sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
The accused was produced before a local court on Tuesday, which rejected his bail application and remanded him in judicial custody.
