MUMBAI: A 59-year-old man has been arrested for inappropriately touching a teenage girl who was well acquainted with his family. The 16-year-old victim lives in a housing society adjacent to the accused. Police said the accused had a pet dog, and the girl often played with the canine.
The incident occurred around 7 pm on July 12. The girl was playing with the dog when the accused approached her.He asked her to join him in his car for a drive. The unsuspecting girl agreed. While in the car, the accused started to touch the girl inappropriately and made lewd remarks, which left her traumatized. After he dropped her home, the girl confided in her family. Her parents immediately took her to the nearest police station, where a case was registered under the Pocso Act.
The accused was arrested and produced before the Dindoshi sessions court. He is presently in judicial custody.
