Man held for bid to kidnap actor couple’s six-year-old daughter | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: A 36-year-old man was arrested by the Goregaon police for allegedly attempting to kidnap the six-year-old daughter of an actor couple from her music class at Goregaon West on Monday. Pravin Terekar, the accused, works as a caterer. He told the police that he was sloshed at the time of the incident. Police are still trying to find out the motive.
The actor couple and their daughter live in Goregaon. The girl is a class 1 student. After finishing school in the evening, she attends a music class from 6pm to 7pm on Aarey Road in Goregaon. Her mother or father picks her up once the class ends and take her home.
On March 10, after wrapping up her work, the girl’s mother, who is also a voice artist, came to her music class to pick her up. After class, all children decided to play for sometime so their parents waited for them. While the parents were chatting with each other, the music teacher approached the girl’s mother. She asked if someone else had accompanied her to pick up the girl that day. The girl’s mother said no. The teacher then informed her that a man was saying he would be taking the girl home that day.
The girl’s mother was taken aback and confronted the man. He initially said that he was a security guard, and later admitted that he worked as a caterer at a trust in Goregaon.
The girl’s mother took him to the catering company’s office to verify his identity. A receptionist and watchman confirmed that he worked with them.
The girl’s mother dialled the police emergency number ‘100′ but as it was taking long , she and the others took the suspect to Goregaon police station. An FIR was registered against him and be was produced before a magistrate court which released him on bail.
