Man gunned down in suspected gang war in Patna | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: A 24-year-old youth with criminal antecedent was shot by the unidentified armed miscreants and his accomplice sustained bullet injuries in Patna on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Chiku Kumar, son of one Virendra Singh and resident of Korawan village.
The incident took place at 1pm near Jamalpura village on Bihta-Sarmera road under the Naubatpur police station, when two criminals on a bike reached an underpass where the duo were strolling.They opened indiscriminate firing on Chiku and Pappu Singh (35). Hearing the gunshot they started running. The criminals chased them and pumped bullets into their bodies.
Phulwarisharif SDPO II Deepak Kumar said Chiku, who sustained bullet injuries on his head and leg died on the spot while his accomplice Pappu was admitted at AIIMS-Patna with one bullet injury.
“The police have recovered seven bullet shells from the spot. The forensic team had collected the blood samples and other evidence from the spot. The dog squad team also reached,” he said.
“Prima facie, it appears that old rivalry between the gang members could be the reason behind the murder. The deceased had a criminal background and five cases have been booked against him related to extortion, murder, wrongful restraint and voluntarily causing hurt and arms act at Bihta and Naubatpur police stations,” the SDPO said.
After the incident, angry villagers blocked the Patna-Naubatpur road demanding the arrest of the criminals.
