Man gunned down by cousin over land row | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: A 60-year-old man, convicted in murder case, was gunned down during a violent clash between two families at Ranipur village under Phulwarisharif police station area in Patna on Saturday. The victim, identified as Mangru Paswan, sustained two bullet injuries, including one near heart. He was immediately taken to AIIMS-Patna, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Phulwarisharif SDPO Vikarm Sihag said the scuffle broke out between two families, Mangru Paswan and his cousin Sunil Paswan (50) over land dispute, dominance and family feud, during which the latter opened fire.Both the brothers have a criminal history and are big landlords. They often have conflicts over dominance in the area. Seeing the growing influence of Mangru, both politically and in the land business, Sunil and his son became jealous.
Mangru’s brother, who died due to Covid, was a member of Phulwarisharif Nagar Parishad. His sister-in-law is presently the councillor of ward number 12 and Mangru was also pitching for his nephew. According to police, the 60-year-old was involved in several criminal cases including murder, kidnapping for ransom, and extortion. He had previously served time in jail.
Sihag said Sunil also had a criminal background. On Saturday morning, he reached Mangru’s house with his sons and other family members at Jai Hind Colony around 11am. After a verbal altercation, his sons Aman Kumar and Sunny Paswan took out a country-made pistol and opened fire. Mangru sustained two bullet injuries and fell to the ground. The accused also took the licensed pistol of the deceased and fled from the spot.
The SDPO added that on receiving the information, the police reached the spot and admitted the victim to AIIMS-Patna, where he died during treatment. “His body was sent for post-mortem and the statements of the family members will be recorded,” the SDPO added.
The FSL team was called to collect blood samples and other evidences from the spot, while the police team is conducting raids to arrest the accused. CCTVs of the surrounding area are also being checked by the police.
