Man gets one-year RI for harassing minor girl | Bhubaneswar News

Keonjhar: A fast-track court in Keonjhar sentenced a 30-year-old man to one year of rigorous imprisonment on Thursday for harassing and threatening a minor girl. The convict, Sunil Kumar Mahanata of Silipada village under Patna police limits, was fined Rs 500, with an additional 15-day jail term if he fails to pay the fine.
According to special public prosecutor Gyanendranath Jena, Mahanata stalked the minor and pressured her to marry him. He created a morphed photograph showing them together and threatened to harm her family if they opposed the marriage. The victim filed a complaint at Patna police station after Mahanata blocked her from using public roads. Police subsequently arrested him and filed charges.
Fast-track court judge Bijay Kumar Mishra pronounced the verdict after examining nine witnesses. The prosecution proved the charges of harassment and criminal intimidation against Mahanata.
