Man gets off wrong side of train, is left hanging Man’s neck wedged in iron grilles while taking short cut | Mumbai News – Times of India

Mumbai: A man who was getting off a train from the wrong side, trying to slip in between two iron bars alongside the tracks died after his neck got wedged between two vertical iron bars at Mumbai Central railway station, a little after 9.30 am on Wednesday. He was left dangling between two bars of the iron fencing along the Virar fast line, leaving him with serious injury. An Aadhaar card copy found on his person identified him as Dhila Rajesh Hamira Bhai (27). He was taking a shortcut by alighting from the wrong side on platform 4. Eyewitnesses told railway officials that he was trying to get off the coach from the side facing the iron fencing, instead of alighting on the platform. A doctor from the emergency services team of 108 Ambulance helpline declared the man ‘dead’ at the site itself. The body was then moved to Nair Hospital for a postmortem. While railway authorities are investigating the sequence of events, they have urged passengers not to attempt unsafe de-boarding practices.
