Man gets life term for 2006 murder near rly stn | Bhubaneswar News

Berhampur: The district and sessions court Thursday sentenced 39-year-old Satish Kumar Mishra to life imprisonment for his involvement in a gruesome murder that took place near Berhampur railway station in 2006. Mishra of Nehru Nagar, along with five accomplices, had killed Ganesh Sahu by chopping his hands and neck near the railway station’s auto stand on Oct 6, 2006.
District and sessions judge Rupashree Choudhury pronounced the verdict based on documentary evidence and witness testimonies. Public prosecutor Trilochan Parida confirmed that police had filed a chargesheet against all six accused on Feb 12, 2007.
While four of Mishra’s associates — Simancha Behera, Murali Behera, Kalia Behera, and Purna Chandra Behera — were sentenced to life imprisonment in 2011, and another accomplice, Sankar Behera, was convicted in 2023, Mishra was on the run. He was arrested on April 14 from Jatni. The five others are also serving life terms.
