Man chops off wife’s hand with sword in Aurangabad | Patna News – Times of India


Patna: A man allegedly severed his wife’s hand with a sword following a family dispute in Aurangabad district on Thursday. The accused fled the spot immediately after the incident. The woman was admitted to a private hospital in Patna in a critical condition. According to police, the accused was in an inebriated state during the incident.
The victim was identified as Madhuri Devi (41), wife of one Sunil Singh (48).The incident occurred at their home in the Jangi Mohalla locality under the Deo police station in the district. Initially, the injured woman was taken to a community health centre and later referred to Magadh Medical College Hospital. However, her family opted to transfer her to a private hospital in Patna, where she is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU. Her condition is stated to be critical.
According to the police, Sunil was under the influence of liquor and engaged in an argument with his wife over some issue. During the altercation, he took out a sword kept in the home and attacked his wife. Soon after getting information, the police rushed to the spot and seized the weapon used in the crime.
Deo SHO Vikas Kumar said, “During the preliminary investigation, Sunil’s mother, Sushila Devi, revealed that her son had a history of violence, including an attempt to kill his father in 2021. He had also served some months in jail at that time. She alleged that Sunil had been threatening to kill all family members and had been unemployed for the last four months.”
The SHO added that the police have registered a case based on a complaint filed by the victim’s son, Akash Kumar. “A search operation is underway to apprehend the accused,” he said.
