Phone stolen, man blackmailed about ‘private videos’ in handset

Mumbai: A 25-year-old food delivery man has lodged a complaint at Vanrai police station stating that an unidentified man had accessed private video clips of him with his wife after his cellphone was stolen. The accused was demanding Rs 1 lakh, failing which he threatened to make the visuals public.
On July 3, the delivery boy’s phone was stolen while he was out to deliver a food parcel in Andheri.He lodged a complainant of theft of his cellphone at Amboli police station.
On July 26, he was at home when he received a phone call around 11.30 am. The caller introduced himself as Ahmed Khan.
Khan told the complainant that he had the memory card from his stolen mobile phone and said that it contained private videos of him and his wife. The delivery boy has claimed that Khan had demanded Rs 1 lakh for not circulating the videos online. He kept calling up and threatening the delivery boy to pay up the amount.
On July 30, around 4.30 pm, Khan summoned the complainant to a bar in Santacruz (east) and showed him the videos and also said that he had already sent them to one of his friends.
The person threatened the delivery boy that if he did not pay up, the videos would be sold for Rs 2 lakh.
The delivery boy sought 10 days time to arrange for the money but was unable to raise the sum. He then approached the police and lodged a complaint.
