NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old man was beaten and stabbed to death by parents and relatives of a woman who accused him of stalking her in Maharashtra’s Nanded district, police said on Sunday.
The police have arrested 10 persons in connection with the attack that took place in Hadgaon town of the district on Friday evening, an official said.
The official reported that the assailants attacked Sheikh Arafat near his residence, subjecting him to physical assault with sticks and kicking before fatally stabbing him.
When Arafat’s mother attempted to intervene and protect her son, the attackers assaulted her as well.
According to the official, the perpetrators, including family members and parents of a local woman, alleged that the victim had engaged in harassment and stalking behaviour towards her.
“The Hadgaon police arrested 10 people on Friday night, and a murder case has been registered against them,” he said.
