Man held in Kolkata for hoax bomb threat to CMO

Patna: A 51-year-old man was arrested from Kolkata (West Bengal) on Monday on the charge of sending a hoax bomb threat through an e-mail to Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s office, a senior officer of Patna police said.
Confirming the arrest, Patna SSP Rajiv Mishra said the accused Mohammad Zahid was native of Khizirchak under Bhagwanpur police station of Begusarai district.“He is currently living at Ganguly Street of Bowbazaar police station area of Kolkata, and works as an auto-driver. Technical analysis led to the identification and arrest of the culprit. A cellphone from which the e-mail was sent was also recovered,” he told TOI. He added: “He will be brought to Patna by Tuesday on transit remand. The police will interrogate him.”
The e-mail was received by the CMO on July 16, in which the sender had claimed that he was associated with Al-Qaeda group. SHO Sanjeev said the investigation has revealed that it was a hoax bomb threat. “Zahid had sent the bomb e-mail to frame someone else as he wrote three contact numbers at the bottom of the mail,” he said.

The case implicates unidentified individuals under applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and IT Act.
