Man arrested for attacking, injuring cops | Bhubaneswar News

Rourkela: Police arrested a man who allegedly attacked two police constables with a knife at Tensa township in Sundargarh district’s Bonai sub-division on Tuesday night. The accused, Bangara Munda alias Baya Munda (40), was arrested on Thursday evening following a two-day manhunt.
The incident took place when constables Prithviraj Parida and Jitendra Routray responded to a distress call from residents of Tensa C block around 11 pm on Tuesday. The complainants reported that a drunk Munda was threatening them with an axe during a neighbourhood dispute.
Police constables arrived and managed to disarm Munda of his axe. However, the accused suddenly pulled out a knife, stabbing Routray in the stomach and Parida below his armpit.
“Constable Routray sustained minor injuries and was treated at Tensa hospital, while constable Parida, who was critically injured, was shifted to Ispat General Hospital. Both are now in a stable condition,” said Tensa police outpost in-charge Sudarsan Dehury.
