Patna: The body of a 32-year-old man was found in a field at Belarhi ward no-2 under River police station area of Supaul district on Saturday. Multiple injury marks were found on the body. The deceased was identified as Manish Kumar, son of Sagar Sah of Kadampura under Narahia police station area of Madhubani district, police said.
According to police, Manish was married to two women. He and his second wife were in jail in the murder case of his brother-in-law. They were released from jail about a year ago. It is suspected that he was beaten to death somewhere else and his body was dumped by the roadside. The man’s shoe, clothes, and his bike were found from the spot.
“Family members told police that Manish had gone to Belarhi Chowk to buy fish on Friday. He delivered the fish home, and then left saying that he was going to Pakadiya village. However, he did not return home till late night. Next morning, his body was found about 1.5km from his in-laws’ house in Belarhi. Local people noticed the body and informed the police about the incident,” said River station in-charge, Amit Kumar.
He said the preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased had two marriages. “His first marriage was in Kuriban village of the Laukahi police station area, from which he had two sons. About five years ago, he married the daughter of Balel Saafi, a resident of Ward-6 in Belarhi village, after a love affair, from which he had a son and a daughter.
“Further inquiry from the family members revealed that Manish was imprisoned along with his second wife in the murder case of her brother two years ago, as he had opposed their relationship. The police are probing the case from that angle also,” Kumar added.
