Koraput: In a bid to enhance safety, monitor operations, and enforce regulatory compliance, district mining officer of Malkangiri issued a directive mandating the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at all quarry sites involved in extracting minor minerals such as sand, morrum, and stone.
The order, issued on Wednesday, requires quarry leaseholders to comply within 30 days.The directive specifies that CCTV systems must cover critical zones, including entrances, exits, machinery, and stockpiles.
“High-resolution cameras with day and night functionality and a minimum storage capacity of 30 days are mandatory. The footage must be made accessible to the mining officer and other relevant authorities upon request,” the order states.
“Non-compliance could result in severe penalties, suspension of operations, or even revocation of leases. Operators are urged to ensure the systems remain functional and undergo regular maintenance,” it adds.
