Major criminal conspiracy foiled in city, one arrested

Patna: A major criminal conspiracy was foiled by the police in the state capital on Wednesday, with recovery of several live cartridges, police uniforms, materials for making bombs, army uniform cloth and a body protector jacket from a house in Digha area. The police have arrested one person in this connection.
Sub divisional police officer-2 (law and order), Dinesh Kumar Pandey, said the police carried out a raid in the Digha area based on information provided by a member of an auto-lifter gang.“The police had gone to recover stolen items from the residence of one Raghuvir Mahto near Kurji Gate no-71. During the search, the police discovered 35 live cartridges, potassium nitrate, acetone, charcoal powder, and containers of charcoal paint in one of the rooms. Moreover, they also came across army uniform attire and materials resembling a body protector commonly used by police and paramilitary forces. One Pawan Mahto has been arrested from the spot. An FSL team also visited the spot and collected samples for further investigation,” he said.
The SDPO said the arrested person (Pawan) was the brother of Mithilesh Mahto, a suspected member of the auto-lifter gang. “The seizures were made from Mithilesh’s room. The police are investigating the case from all angles, including the motive behind keeping such items at home. Raids are on to nab Mithilesh,” he added.
