Bhubaneswar: With the BJP govt nearing one year in office, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended invitations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah to participate in the first anniversary celebrations on June 12.Making the announcement on Monday, deputy CM Pravati Parida hoped the PM would favourably consider the invitation, while Shah might also come. She added that the CM also invited his counterparts from NDA-ruled states to attend the Rath Yatra in Puri on June 27.Law minister Prithiviraj Harichandan expressed optimism about the prime minister’s visit. “On behalf of the CM, the PM has been invited. I am hopeful that the PM will come and encourage us to work further,” Harichandan said.He further explained that the govt has initiated an ambitious transformation plan for Odisha by 2036, which aligns with India’s broader development goals for 2047. The minister emphasised that the groundwork laid in the past year has positioned the state for success, expressing confidence in achieving the USD 500 billion economy target by 2036 with a 9.2% growth rate.A senior govt official revealed that the administration requested the PM to launch Vision Odisha documents for 2036 and 2047 during the first anniversary celebrations. The PM reportedly commended two aspects of the CM’s presentation during the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting — the state’s vision document planning for its centenary in 2036 and the country’s independence centenary, and cash incentives given to women under Subhadra schemes.Majhi, during the NITI Aayog meeting, described the state’s Vision 2036 and 2047 documents as an “ambitious resolve to build a prosperous, developed, and proud Odisha,” emphasising the vision of ‘Viksit Odisha’ within ‘Viksit Bharat’. He projected Odisha’s economy to reach USD 500 billion by 2036 and USD 1.5 trillion by 2047. The CM is committed to personally overseeing the implementation of the comprehensive and actionable vision document.The vision encompasses expanding irrigation coverage for enhanced agricultural productivity, promoting urbanisation as a growth catalyst, and developing world-class transportation infrastructure with central govt support.
