Maharashtra signs MoUs to boost skill development, set up advanced labs in 20 ITIs – The Times of India

MUMBAI: The establishment of advanced laboratories in 20 ITIs, employment generation through entrepreneur gatherings, and enhanced technical education opportunities for differently-abled ITI students are being implemented.
The agreements were signed between the Skill Employment Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department and various organisations including Shri Shri Rural Development Program Trust (SSRDPT) Bangalore, Schneider Electric India Foundation (SEFIF) Bangalore, Pune’s Deasra Foundation, and Andheri’s Project Mumbai social organisation, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presiding.
Following the cabinet meeting, the agreements were formalised at the Ministry. The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, State Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma, Commissioner Nitin Patil, Director Madhavi Sardeshmukh, Joint Director Satish Suryavanshi, SSRDPT Trustee Vijay Hake, SEIF CSR Head Richa Gautam, Damini Chaudhary, Project Mumbai Director Jalaj Dani, and De Aasra CEO Ashish Pandit.
The three-way agreement between SSRDPT, SEIF, and the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training aims to provide contemporary technology training to youth. SSRDPT offers vocational training for employment, while SEIF implements nationwide skill development initiatives through CSR funding.
Under this agreement, SEIF will enhance electrician trade workshops in 20 government ITIs over three years, establishing solar technician and industrial automation facilities.
Additionally, SEIF will provide complimentary fifteen-day advanced technology training in Bangalore. This initiative will benefit 9,750 trainees in electrical and renewable energy sectors over four years. SEIF has previously upgraded facilities in Amravati and Nashik institutions.
Selected centres span departments across Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Amravati, and Nashik. Training will commence from 2025-26, with increasing participation yearly: 1,500 youth in 10 centres initially, expanding to 2,250 in 15 centres, followed by 3,000 youth in 20 centres in subsequent years.
The agreement between Maharashtra State Innovation Society and Deasara Foundation focuses on entrepreneurship development. It aims to support small entrepreneurs through training and guidance programmes.
District-level entrepreneurial gatherings will target 5,000 beneficiaries, including aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage startups. Deasara provides comprehensive business support, including management training, financial guidance, and marketing assistance.
