Maharashtra govt to equip ministers with tablets to track implementation of decisions

Mumbai: The state govt will procure 45 tablets, one for each member of the council of ministers, to be used not just for cabinet meetings but also to enable every minister to maintain a record of all decisions taken by their department. This includes the government resolutions issued based on the cabinet decision and following up on the extent of implementation of the decision.
“Every minister will now know that at least someone somewhere has benefited from the decision without having to wait for the department to gather the information and present it to them,” said chief secretary Sujata Saunik, who made a presentation on the e-cabinet files and the introduction of a paperless office.
Saunik said the e-cabinet has already been implemented in five states: Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, and Andhra Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh and Sikkim are ready to implement it, while Delhi, Karnataka and the state are in the process of doing so.
“The benefits include digital record-keeping, helping ministers to review a decision and seek accountability from the department. It can be used in the state language and is completely secure as it is encrypted,” she said.
