Maharashtra govt replaces special public prosecutor in Payal Tadvi case | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: The state govt on Friday issued a notification cancelling the appointment of advocate Pradip Gharat as its special public prosecutor in the 2019 Dr Payal Tadvi suicide abetment case. Govt appointed advocate Mahesh Manohar Mule as SPP in his place.
The notification stated: “In view of the recommendation received from the home department, the Government of Maharashtra cancels the appointment of advocate Pradip D Gharat as Special Public Prosecutor for conducting the cases in Sessions Court, Mumbai, and High Court, arising out of the case registered with Agripada police station…”
Gharat on Sunday said he had no official communication yet, but learnt of the notification from mediapersons. The notification comes days after the trial court allowed an application he made to add a fourth accused in the Dr Tadvi suicide abetment case, he said.
He was appointed SPP on July 6, 2020.
