In the 2019 general elections, Janardan Singh ‘Sigriwal” of the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious with 543,523 votes, constituting 56.1% of the votes. The runner-up was Randhir Kumar Singh of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, securing 314,803 votes, accounting for 32.5% of the votes.
In the 2014 general elections, Janardan Singh “Sigriwal,” of the Bharatiya Janata Party, secured victory with 320,645 votes, capturing 39% of the votes.
Prabhu Nath Singh of the Rashtriya Janata Dal was the runner-up with 282,171 votes, securing 34.3% of the votes.
According to the 2011 Census, around 11.7% of the voters belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category, and around 1.8% belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category. Muslim voters comprise around 12% of the electorate, as per the analysis of the voter list. According to the 2011 Census, the rural population dominates the voter list, constituting around 99% of the electorate, in contrast to urban voters, who make up around 1%. During the 2019 Parliamentary Election, Maharajganj witnessed a voter turnout of 53.7%.
