67k street lights to illuminate entire Maha Kumbh campus

Prayagraj: The upcoming Maha Kumbh, starting on Jan 13 next year, will be much grand compared to Kumbh 2019. Maha Kumbh 2025 will spread over a vast area of 4,000 hectares. A meeting was held in Lucknow on Tuesday where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was briefed about the Maha Kumbh with important statistics, comparing it with 2019. The CM was informed that for the mela, authorities will be laying chequered plates for 450 km, connecting the 25 sectors of the mela area. In 2019, the overall length of the chequered plates in the mela area was 299 km. Not only the mela area but also the parking area has been increased in 2025. For Maha Kumbh, parking will be done in an area of 1,850 hectares, while in 2019, this was done in 1,291 hectares. Likewise, the two sides of the river will be connected with 30 pontoon bridges, the number of, which was 22 in 2019. The entire mela area, spreading from Phaphamau to Chhatnag, will be well-lit with 67,000 street lights, whereas in 2019.
There will be around 10,000 institutions, including religious, social, and non-profitable ones, camping in the vast mela area. In 2019, the number of institutions/organisations was 5,721. The mela area will have over 1.5 lakh tents in, which devotees and religious organisations will be camping for the 45-day-long religious event. The length of the ghats has also been increased as authorities will be constructing temporary ghats stretching for 12 km. In 2019, authorities constructed ghats with a length of 8 km.
