HYDERABAD: A young man from Gumnoor (K) village in Lingapur mandal married two women in a single ceremony, following tribal customs, in Kumurambheem Asifabad district, with village elders as witnesses.
Suryadev, son of Sidam Roopabai and Srimaruti, works in the film industry in Hyderabad. He was in a three-year relationship with Kanaka Lal from Shettihadpanur Rajulaguda, Sirpur (U) mandal. However, their relationship turned sour, and he distanced himself from her.
Meanwhile, Suryadev entered into another relationship with Atram Jalkar Devi from Pullara village in the same mandal. When Kanaka Lal learned about this, she insisted on marriage and convened a panchayat with village elders. Suryadev took Jalkar Devi to Hyderabad, but her family intervened and called for another panchayat.
In the presence of elders, including Grama Patel and former Sarpanch Athram, Suryadev agreed to marry both women. He signed a bond pledging equal care and responsibility for both brides.
The wedding took place on Thursday, March 27, at the same venue, following tribal customs. Marriage cards were distributed, and flex boards were displayed in the villages. Nearly 1,000 people from three villages attended the ceremony.
