Loaded magazine from AK-47 rifle found abandoned at Chennai Junction | Chennai News – The Times of India
CHENNAI: A magazine loaded with 30 rounds of bullets was recovered near the MIOT junction on Monday evening. A passerby, Sivaraj, on his bike spotted the magazine lying abandoned near the traffic junction. He informed the Royala Nagar police station and handed it over to the police personnel.
Inspector of Police Rajeshwari examined the magazine, which is used in AK-47 rifles, and found the cartridge was loaded with 30 bullets. A team of ballistic experts visited the police station to examine the recovered magazine and bullets. They confirmed that it is used by the paramilitary forces after verifying it.
An investigation officer said they reviewed the CCTV camera footage and found a CRPF truck passed through the signal an hour before the magazine was spotted by the passerby. Following this, the cops informed the CRPF regional headquarters office in Avadi. Later, they claimed that the magazine belonged to one of the jawans and the loaded magazine released off the AK-47 rifle and fell on the road.
The team from the CRPF, along with the jawan whose magazine was missing, went to the Royala Nagar police station. The cops handed it over to the CRPF team after getting an undertaking.
